Tourism in Los Angeles reaches record high

LOS ANGELES

The city's marketing and travel bureau released its latest statistics Wednesday. It estimates tourists spent more than $15 billion here in 2011.

Part of that was a big increase in the number of international tourists, particularly a strong increase in visitors from China.

The country that sent the most tourists to Los Angeles was Australia. The year also saw increases in the percentage of visitors from Canada and Mexico.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
