Cypress Park attempt kidnap: sketch released

CYPRESS PARK, LOS ANGELES

Authorities say the incident happened Wednesday morning near Cypress Avenue and Silver Street. The 16-year-old victim was walking to school when a man grabbed her and tried to drag her into his truck.

The girl was able to run away.

"He said that he wanted to talk to her and he repeated that a couple of times ... while he was grabbing her and in an apparent attempt to pull her into the vehicle," said LAPD Lt. Steven Flores.

The suspect was described as a male Hispanic, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180 pounds, with acne or chickenpox-type scarring on his face and a light beard.

The suspect's vehicle was described as an older red Toyota pickup truck with scrap metal or tools in the bed of the truck. Police do not have a license plate number.

Anyone with information was urged to call the LAPD Northeast Station at (323) 344-5701.
