A Christian fraternity and a Christian sorority sued San Diego State University in 2005. They argued a discrimination policy in place at California state universities violates their religious freedom. The policy states that officially recognized campus groups cannot discriminate on religious or sexual orientation.
A federal appeals court found the university policy does not violate the Constitution, as the suit alleged. The Supreme Court Monday left that decision in place.
The case is Alpha Delta Chi-Delta Chapter v. Reed, 11-744.
