Army veteran killed in Canyon Lake hit-and-run

CANYON LAKE, RIVERSIDE COUNTY

Police responded to reports of a man down on the 31000 block of Railroad Canyon Road around 2:17 a.m. and located a man deceased in the roadway.

Family members have since identified the man as 32-year-old Scott Bolger.

Bolger's wife says the father of two had stepped out to a local tavern with his brother-in-law Friday night. Investigators say he was walking home, stepped off the sidewalk, and was hit.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Bolger was a military veteran and had served in the Army Reserves for eight years.

He was married for five years. He leaves behind a wife and two newborn twins.

"I want the person that hit him to know that he was a husband, that he was a father, that he was a son, and that he was a good person, loving, kind and that he always put everyone first," said widow Karen Bolger.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information was urged to contact Deputy Rabago at the Perris Sheriff's Station at (951) 210-1000.
