Babysitter's boyfriend accused of beating 2-year-old boy in Norwalk

NORWALK, Calif.

Deputies received a call about a "baby not breathing" around 12:50 p.m. Sunday on the 11400 block of Maza Street. When they arrived, the toddler was unresponsive. He was taken to Miller's Children's Hospital in Long Beach, where he was listed in extremely critical condition, according to investigators.

Elder Matamoros, 23, is suspected of assaulting the boy, causing blunt force trauma. Matamoros was charged with "cruelty to a child likely to produce great bodily injury or death," and his bail was set at $100,000.
