Honda Odysseys recalled for faulty fuel caps, which can cause fires

LOS ANGELES

Odysseys made between June 23, 2004 and Sept. 4, 2010 are involved in the recall.

According to documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the fuel pump strainer cover can wear down from exposure, high temperatures and acidic chemicals and cause fuel leaks, which in turn can cause a vehicle fire.

The auto company says no fires or injuries have been reported. Honda dealers will repair the vehicles for free, but the company says replacement parts may not be available until this summer. Honda said it will notify owners of the recall in April.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
