SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 2-year-old girl and her mom were injured Thursday after two cars collided while they were in their front yard.

Two cars crashed at the intersection of 93rd Street and Vermont Avenue and struck a mother in a wheelchair with the toddler on her lap, according to California Highway Patrol. It was earlier reported as a hit-and-run accident.

One driver briefly ran from the scene after an angry crowd gathered, but CHP found him. He was not arrested. CHP officials said no criminal element was found.

Both mother and daughter sustained minor injuries.
