INDIO, Calif. (KABC) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.8 struck about 12 miles north, northeast of Indio on Friday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake hit at about 10:25 p.m. and had a depth of 4 miles. The epicenter was about 14 miles north of Coachella and 22 miles east of Palm Springs.

Eyewitness News viewers reported feeling the shaking in Palm Desert and Coachella.

No damage was immediately reported.
