Former Baylorcoach Art Briles told reporters Wednesday he expects to be coaching again in 2017.

Briles was back in Waco to meet with his former players, coaches and some family members for lunch. As he was leaving the lunch, he told a reporter from KCEN-TV in Waco, "Yeah, I'm gonna coach again."

Briles added he'll return to coaching in 2017, but did not respond when asked whether he'll be coaching college football or in the NFL.

The ex-Baylor coach reached an undisclosed financial settlement with Baylor in June, officially ending his eight-year tenure after he was suspended with intent to terminate a month earlier.

Other than a statement he released on June 2, Briles has yet to speak publicly about his firing. A statement from the school announcing the termination of his employment said Briles has acknowledged "serious shortcomings" in Baylor's response to reports of sexual assault by football players.
