Police clear pro-Palestinian encampment outside LA City Hall; no arrests made
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A pro-Palestinian encampment that was set up in front of Los Angeles City Hall was cleared by police overnight.
About 21 tents were set up on the sidewalks outside the building at Main and First streets Monday night. Dozens of protesters also lined up on the sidewalks.
AIR7 HD was above city hall and captured several tents with Palestinian flags and phrases such as "Free Palestine" and "Free Gaza."
The Los Angeles Police Department went on a city-wide tactical alert out of an abundance of caution, but it was later downgraded to a bureau-wide tactical alert.
Officers moved in to clear the encampment by 12:45 a.m. Tuesday without incident, and the tactical alert was canceled.
No injuries were reported and no arrests were made.
