RALEIGH, N.C. -- A Raleigh man is facing murder charges after police responded to a code-blue call Sunday evening involving a 10-month-old girl.
It happened around 8:20 p.m. in the 800 block of Suffolk Boulevard. The infant, Laniyh Pierce, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Police arrested and charged 20-year-old Marcus Larenzo Alston with felony child abuse and murder in connection with Pierce's death.
According to warrants, Alston "lacerated (the 10-month-old's) kidney and liver" while he was watching the child.
The warrants also revealed Alston was Pierce's mother's boyfriend and the couple lived together.
