NORWALK, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities searched for three suspects in Norwalk after a deputy-involved shooting occurred Monday night.
Detectives were responding to Hermosillo Park, located in the 11900 block of 162nd Street, regarding a gunshot victim around 5 p.m. When they arrived, they saw three men fleeing the scene. One of the men pulled what appeared to be a gun and pointed it at the deputies.
A deputy-involved shooting occurred, but it was unclear if any of the suspects were hit. No deputies were injured in the shooting.
A gunshot victim was not found at the location, but a firearm was recovered.
"We're asking everyone that lives in the containment area to shelter in place, to lock their doors and windows, to keep their family safe inside their home," Lt. A.J. Rotella said.
Authorities said all three suspects got away and a containment area was set up. The containment area was set up north of the 91 Freeway to 166th Street and it extended east of Pioneer Boulevard.
After an hourslong search, authorities detained two people, questioned them and then released them because a witness could not positively identify them.
The suspects remained on the loose. The investigation was ongoing.
Anyone with more information was urged to call the L.A. County Sheriff's Department's Norwalk station at (562) 863-8711. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
