YUCAIPA, Calif. (KABC) -- A Spanish teacher at Yucaipa High School teacher has been arrested for having sex with her 16-year-old male student, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Sheila Heacock, 44, was arrested Wednesday on multiple charges including oral copulation with a minor, penetration by a foreign object with a minor, contact with a minor to commit an offense, and unlawful sexual intercourse. She is being held on $100,000 bail.

The investigation began after an administrator at the high school told deputies about the possible inappropriate relationship. Detectives from the Crimes Against Children Detail and personnel from the Yucaipa Sheriff's Station then contacted the 16-year-old male, who disclosed the sexual abuse.

The sexual abuse began in January and continued through March 2014.

Heacock started working at the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District 18 years ago. She was immediately placed on paid administrative leave.

She is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in San Bernardino Superior Court.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with further information was urged to contact Detective Jennifer Wood with the Crimes Against Children detail at (909) 357-3615.
