SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) -- A macaw brought to a South El Monte learning center as part of a presentation for young children was stolen from an unlocked car.

The blue and yellow bird, known as Zazu, was taken at about 9:20 a.m. Friday from a car parked outside the Akitoi Learning Center. Surveillance video caught an unidentified man taking the bird, while Zazu's handler went back in to the learning center to retrieve another animal.

The suspect may be driving a stolen red Dodge pick-up truck with Texas plate.
