Doctors develop 1st bionic eye

LOS ANGELES A tiny camera, roughly the size of a pea, is implanted inside the eye and transmits images to the brain.

Researchers think it could be available to patients in three to five years.

Similar technology is already being used in special glasses that have a built-in camera.

The camera attaches to an implant in the eye, allowing the patient to see in black and white.
