Chocolate could benefit pregnant women

Yale University researchers report chocolate, especially dark chocolate, can help prevent a complication called preeclampsia.

It occurs when a pregnant woman's blood pressure spikes, and a protein is released into her urine and has features in common with heart disease.

Chocolate has cardiovascular benefits, containing a chemical that stimulates the heart, dilates blood vessels, and relaxes certain muscles.

Women who ate the most chocolate in their third trimester were 40 percent less likely to develop preeclampsia.
