Angry parents march at South Gate school

SOUTH GATE, Calif. The parents have letters documenting a wide range of complaints. They say school officials fail to return phone calls. One parent says she had to threaten to get the police involved before the school took any action. Other parents say they have unanswered complaints going back to November.

The school district issued this response: "Active parent engagement is important to the Los Angeles Unified School District and critical to the education of all our students. District administrators are aware of the concerns presented by some of the parents at Montara Elementary. Local district officials have met with parents at Montara and will continue to do so until all issues have been resolved."
