Reports show Maytag washers, dishwashers and top-freezer refrigerators are among the less reliable. A Consumer Reports survey also found that customer support was among the lower-rated brands, along with Frigidaire and Jenn-Air.
"Maytag's service was especially disappointing when technicians come to the house to do repairs. It was also below average at helping over the phone and through its Web site," said Tordesillas.
Maytag was acquired by Whirlpool two years ago. Whirlpool says customer service is improving. Consumer reports says research shows Maytag appliances such as electric stoves, cooktops and wall ovens are all quite reliable.
