Group gives up gay union court fight

August 12, 2008 12:18:03 PM PDT
The sponsors of a ballot measure banning same-sex marriage are dropping a court battle.Protectmarriage.com says it won't ask the California Supreme Court to throw out a revised title and summary of the initiative by Attorney General Jerry Brown.

Brown rewrote the measure's title to say the proposition would "eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry." It had been called "limit on marriage."

The group says it's giving up the court battle to allow the voters to judge.
