L.A. Sheriff looks to add more deputies

LOS ANGELES He is seeking approval from the /*L.A. County Board of Supervisors*/ to apply for a federal grant that would finance the hiring of 425 new deputies.

Tuesday is the deadline.

The county could receive over 130 million dollars, and the money would fund the salaries and benefits for the new hires for 36 months. After that, the county would have to come up with funding for operating costs.
