O.C. man sets record on Mt. Everest

COSTA MESA, Calif. The retired attorney was welcomed back by family and friends at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday night.

"Just feels so good to be back," Burke said. "I just dreamed about this moment, coming back and feeling good, healthy, being with my family. It was a great trip. It couldn't have been better."

Burke reached the top of Everest on his third attempt at climbing the 29,000-foot tall mountain. The climb completes Burke's mission to reach the summit of all seven of the world's tallest mountains.

"It's just one foot in front of the other, just trying to keep a pace where you don't get too exhausted," Burke said.

"I was just concentrating on the route, making sure I was climbing conservatively and not in any danger."
