Arrest in 2003 murder of Ventura teen

VENTURA, Calif. Samuel Travis Reeves, 15, was shot to death in October 2003 while attending a birthday party in a rural area of Santa Paula. Two people were arrested at the time of the shooting, but were later released.

Detectives now believe they have their man.

"Today, Joey Flores, known as Dopey, a 29-year-old Santa Paula gang member, has been arrested for the murder of Samuel Reeves, who was a 15-year-old boy with no gang affiliation, no trouble starting at the party, an innocent victim," said Chief Deputy Gary Pentis of the Ventura County Sheriff's Dept.

Flores is being held on $2 million bail.

At a news conference, Reeves' family thanked detectives for their hard work.
