USC football may have violated NCAA rules

LOS ANGELES The /*L.A. Times*/ is reporting that head coach /*Pete Carroll*/ employed a former NFL tactician last year to help with the Trojans' punting and kicking game. That may have violated NCAA rules prohibiting consultants from coaching.

USC says it is looking into the matter but would have no further comment at this time.

The NCAA is already investigating allegations of improper payments to two former players in the football and basketball programs.
