Empty UC Irvine dorms means less fees

IRVINE, Calif. The university has reduced freshman enrollment by 500 this fall, as part of $77 million in cuts.

The school says it has 500 empty beds in on-campus housing because many students are choosing to live off-campus to save money.

According to UCI, housing fees pay for day-to-day operations on campus.
