Robber makes off with cash from Ventura bank

OXNARD, Calif. The robbery happened at 9:13 a.m. at the County Commerce Bank on the 2400 block of East Gonzales Road.

Investigators say the suspect entered the bank holding a possible weapon, demanded all customers and employees lie on the floor and approached several tellers demanding money.

When police showed up, the suspect had gotten away on foot, with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He's described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 140 to 170 lbs. and wearing a hooded sweatshirt, black beanie, surgical mask, gloves and tan pants.

Investigators and local FBI are requesting assistance. If you saw a suspicious vehicle parked on Rice Ave south of Gonzales Rd. around 9 a.m., please contact Detective Charles Buttell at (805) 385-7665.
