The 3.7 temblor hit at 4:59 p.m. about four miles west of Hermosa Beach and roughly four miles west-southwest of Manhattan Beach, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It occurred at a depth of about a half-mile.
L.A. County Fire briefly went into earthquake mode, but that was called off.
The earlier 2:17 a.m. quake was centered about three miles off the coast of Hermosa Beach and struck at a depth of about 8 miles.
There were no reports of any injuries or damage, but earthquakes in the magnitude-3 range rarely cause structural damage.
Both quakes were widely felt across West Los Angeles. ABC7 viewers in Redondo Beach, Carson, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Westwood, Long Beach, Marina del Rey, San Pedro, Culver City, Torrance, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Beverly Hills, and Westchester reported feeling the quakes.
