Rare white lions make debut at Serbia zoo

August 20, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
Two white lion cubs at the Belgrade Zoo in Serbia have made their first public appearance. The cubs were born on Aug. 12 and unveiled to the public Thursday.

Officials said the zoo now has a total of seven white lions and hopes to have more newborns in the future.

White lions are a rare mutation of a species found in South Africa where they are traditionally considered divine.

There are only around 200 of the animals left in the world.
