Yorba Linda brush fire fully contained

YORBA LINDA, Calif. Fire crews responded to the fire just before 8 p.m. near Quarter Horse Drive and Winners Circle, off Fairmont Boulevard and Bastanchury Road.

Helicopters were used in the dark to make water drops. More than 4,300 gallons of water were used.

Residents did not have to evacuate because the Orange County Fire Authority called in 20 extra fire engines to protect structures in the neighborhood.

"Helicopters are now utilizing night vision goggles, so it's allowing them to fly safely at night to make the water drops," said Capt. Greg McKeown of the OCFA. "We're always prepared to fight fires from the ground. We have bulldozers, we have hand crews, we have firefighters on the ground with engines. The helicopter is definitely an added luxury."

About 100 firefighters battled the blaze from the ground.

Authorities are investigating the casue of the fire.
