Aldredge passed away Friday at a Connecticut hospice.
Aldredge designed costumes for more than 300 stage and film projects, including projects as varied as "Ghostbusters" and "Addams Family Values."
She won the Oscar in 1975 for "The Great Gatsby," starring Robert Redford.
Aldredge also won three Tony Awards for her stage work and is part of the Theater Hall of Fame.
