Villaraigosa staffer arrested at LA club

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES Blanca Martinez-Navarro is the rampart program manager for the mayor's gang-reduction office and youth-development office.

Officials said she and her husband, Oscar Navarro, were at the Conga Room when an altercation broke out about 1:40 a.m.

Los Angeles Police Department investigators said the couple was involved in a domestic dispute.

Officers said they noticed a security guard in a confrontation with several guests at the night club.

When police confronted Oscar Navarro, he allegedly assaulted one of the officers trying to pin his arm behind his back.

While Navarro was being taken into custody, investigators said Blanca Martinez-Navarro jumped on the officer's back and assaulted him.

"During that incident, his wife also became involved in the situation and tried to intervene," said Officer Karen Rayner of the LAPD. "There was a small use of force to take her into custody and they were both booked on battery on a police officer."

Blanca Martinez-Navarro was released on $20,000 bail. Her husband continues to be held on $20,000 bail.

The mayor's office released a statement saying, "Blanca Navarro has been placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation."
