Injured Mavericks surfer's condition upgraded

STANFORD, Calif. Doctors at Stanford Hospital have upgraded Jacob Trette's condition from critical to fair, three days after he was pulled from the ocean unconscious.

Trette was rescued after he was caught by a freak set of waves, more than 20 feet tall at the Mavericks surf spot off Half Moon Bay.

Hospital officials say he's now conscious, and his "indicators are favorable."
