Nato Flores' twin engine Piper slammed into a house just after taking off from Big Bear City Airport.
Flores is expected to recover.
A resident in the house had minor injuries.
Flores is the president of Los Angeles-based Tower General Contractors, one of the biggest construction firms in California.
Flores was the only person aboard the small aircraft.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
