Officers were sent to check on reports of a prowler in the 1200 block of Westmoreland Avenue Saturday morning.
They called for assistance, saying a man matching the description of the prowler took off running.
Authorities said the supsect pulled out a gun during the pursuit. The man was shot and killed.
One officer was injured in the shooting, but not seriously.
