Fullerton police said that the victim, 19-year-old Larry Ruiz, was in the alley with a friend in the 1100 block of West Williamson Avenue. Ruiz and his friend were approached by two unknown men on foot. Words were exchanged between the pairs and Ruiz began running away. Ruiz was shot by one of the suspects.
Police and paramedics found Ruiz lying in the alley. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said that the suspects are described as male Hispanics, in their late teens or early twenties. Police are not ruling out the possibility that the shooting was gang involved.
