Heavy snow blamed for series of power outages in Frazier Park

FRAZIER PARK, Calif.

After nearly a week, power has been restored to almost all residents, and it's just in time for the next storm, which is expected to hit on Wednesday afternoon.

A downed power line on Friday was the cause of the power outage, officials said. The area received about a foot of snow over the weekend.

Residents said the power outage wasn't too much to deal with.

"You just make do. I have a wood stove, so I cooked on my wood stove, and just had candles and sat around and did nothing," said Richard Taylor of Frazier Park.

Kern County authorities have set up a shelter at Frazier Mountain High School, 700 Falcon Way, for those without power who need shelter from cold conditions. For more information, call the Kern County Information and Referral Services at 211.
