Giant screens in London to show royal wedding live

April 7, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
London's mayor wants the entire city to be able to celebrate the upcoming royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, so the city is setting up giant screens to broadcast the wedding.

The screens will be placed in Trafalgar Square and Hyde Park, and the live screenings will be free.

The event will be complete with food and drinks stands and a Ferris wheel to add to a celebratory atmosphere, officials said Thursday.

Mayor Boris Johnson said he wants to show the world that London knows how to throw a party. He's even encouraging attendees to get in the spirit and wear a hat.
