Nintendo is getting ready to launch a successor to its vastly popular Wii gaming console.

The company plans to replace the Wii with a new system next year. In disclosing its plans Monday, Nintendo Co. didn't say what the new system will do.

Nintendo launched the Wii in 2006. Since then, it has sold more than 86 million of them.

Gamers can get their first look at the new system in June at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles.
