Alcohol screening OKed for Hemet High prom

May 18, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
Students organizing the Hemet High School prom have added an unusual feature: random alcohol testing.

Students at Hemet High School came up with the idea after two students were rushed to the hospital with alcohol poisoning during the school's Valentine's dance.

The school has agreed to do random testing at Saturday night's prom.

The school tested a dozen students in April at a Sadie Hawkins dance and they all passed.

The school is holding other events leading up to the prom to educate students about the dangers of drinking.
