LA science teacher awarded teaching prize

LOS ANGELES

Jessica Davis is a science teacher at the /*Film and Theatre Arts Charter High School*/.

She was given the /*Amgen Award for Science Teaching Excellence*/ for her innovative teaching methods.

Davis received a $5,000 grant and an additional $5,000 was given to her school.

"I felt so lucky just to work at this school anyway," said Davis. "To be at a school where you can actually get close to the students and educate them the way that they actually need. And now we can actually have supplies and do that at the same time."

For the past year Davis has been working with her students on a project to test why some areas have more smog than others.
