Angeline Lavasseur, 18, was born with spina bifida and has spent her entire life in a wheelchair. But Monday, for the first time her friends and classmates saw her walk.
With the help of a brace and crutches, Lavasseur walked across the stage to receive her diploma.
"Just because I'm in a chair, I still fit in," said Lavasseur. "I still do everything everyone else does. If I can get through it with the challenge that I've got, there's no reason that anyone else can't do it."
Lavasseur is attending Washtenaw Community College in the fall and studying physical therapy.
