Small plane crashes into car, house in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif.

The single-engine Cessna, which was heading to Adelanto, lost power shortly after taking off from Hesperia Airport around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said the pilot tried to make an emergency landing on a dirt road, but ended up skidding. The plane crashed into a parked car, which burst into flames. It then landed up against a house.

The pilot and a passenger were able to walk away with only minor injuries.

"They did not want to be transported by ambulance. They had some cuts and scrapes and bruises. There were some people in the house. They were not injured. When the plane crashed, they immediately called 911," said Deputy Dave Carney.

The car is a total loss. It's unknown how much, if any, damage was done to the home.
