California Gov. Jerry Brown is making good on his promise to get rid of unnecessary state vehicles.

According to the governor's office, 3,800 cars have been removed from the fleet.

That will save the state an estimated $11 million next year.

The vehicles will be auctioned off. That's expected to bring in an extra $5 million.

Another 1,700 vehicles must be cut to meet the governor's goal of 5,500.
