The 32-year-old male victim was riding a bicycle on the 1300 block of Santa Clara St. in Ventura shortly at about 12:43 a.m. Friday.
According to the Ventura Police Dept., the victim got into a verbal confrontation with several males in a vehicle. The males gave chase to the victim.
The victim reportedly lost control of his bike and crashed. An unidentified male in the pursuing vehicle shot the victim in the back. The vehicle then reportedly sped away.
Ventura Police received several reports of the shooting. Officers responded and found the victim, who had fled to a nearby apartment complex.
The victim was hospitalized at Ventura County Medical Center with a non-life-threatening wound and was reportedly in stable condition Friday.
