The truck, which was hauling two trailers of cement, flipped over at Florence Avenue just before 4 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
Crews finished clearing the large mess and all lanes of the freeway have since reopened.
Commuters were advised to take Atlantic or Eastern avenues as alternate routes to get around the closure.
Northbound lanes were not affected, but traffic slowed due to onlookers.
The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
