Glendale police fatally shoot man who fired at officers

GLENDALE, Calif.

The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. on San Fernando Road between Glendale Avenue and Brand Boulevard.

Authorities say they received calls from residents who heard gunfire in the area. Responding officers also heard gunshots when they arrived on scene.

Officers saw a man walking down the street and saw him fire his gun. When they tried to make contact with him, the suspect fired at officers.

Officers fired back, hitting him. The suspect died at the scene.

San Fernando Road between Glendale Avenue and Brand Boulevard was shut down while detectives conducted their investigation. Officials advised commuters heading to Glendale to use Los Feliz or Colorado boulevards or the 134 Freeway.
