Pint-sized patriot greets troops, thanks them

ATLANTA

"I tell them 'Thank you for protecting us,'" said Cody Jackson, 8.

Jackson stops to greet and salute every service member he sees. He even wears his own child-sized military fatigues/

"And he will come up to when he sees soldiers and greet them, he will give you a piece of candy and say 'Thank you for your service' and salute you," said Staff Sgt. Janeen Butler. "I'm like, 'Aww, he is so cute.'"

"They are risking their lives, they are fighting for us our freedom and our country," said Jackson.

His mom says this was all his own idea.

He plans to join the service himself one day.
