Robbers tie up caregiver in Westwood home invasion

WESTWOOD, LOS ANGELES

The home belongs to prominent divorce attorney Eugene Trope. Authorities responded to the home on the 300 block of Norcroft Avenue around 7:40 a.m. after a neighbor called 911.

Sources said while Trope was still sleeping, his caregiver went outside the property through the elevator to retrieve the newspaper. He was then surprised by two men who jumped him, tied him up and put a gag in his mouth. Trope had no encounter with the men.

Sources say the burglars picked up several suitcases in the house and filled them up with sterling silver, crystals and other items before leaving the property.

No one was injured in the robbery.

Police are searching for the suspects. Det. Stanley Evans said they have a loose description, but are believed to be two male African-Americans. They were both wearing hoods and had their faces covered.

Authorities said they believe the suspects fled in a Chrysler 300.
