Youngest in class most likely to be diagnosed with ADHD

LOS ANGELES

University of British Columbia scientists find younger children in the same grade as children who may be almost a year older may appear to be immature compared with their older peers.

As a result, these younger kids are more likely to be diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

This relative age effect also influences both academic and athletic performance.
