Body of missing hiker found in Angeles National Forest

March 5, 2012 12:00:00 AM PST
The search for a 76-year-old community activist and experienced hiker in the Angeles National Forest came to an end when his body was found in a remote area.

Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said Henry DeRusha began his hike Friday at the Switzer Falls campground near Mount Wilson. His son reported him missing Monday morning.

DeRusha's body was found about 4:30 p.m. between Switzer Falls campground and Bear Canyon Junction.

Recovery of the body was not expected until Tuesday morning because of darkness and rugged terrain.
