Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies got a call about 3:30 p.m. that someone had shot a woman. When they arrived at the home in the 3200 block of North Lincoln Avenue, the suspect had locked himself inside.
Authorities said they put gas inside the home and were waiting for a reaction. They said they believed the suspect had several more weapons inside the residence. Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.
When authorities entered the home, they said he was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The suspect's mother was alive at the hospital, but her condition was not known.
